Jeckierine is a 25 yr old lady who have been working for Globe Telecoms for barely two (2) months (she was formerly connected with SM Department Store). She is the 2nd from the brood of 8. She has 6 younger siblings who are dependent of her as she is the lone bread winner in the family.

She lives in Block 63 Lot 60 Purok 5, Upper Bicutan Tagig.

She has only started to join the group of mountaineers of which one of my officemates is also a member. Last Holy Week she joined her group to hike in Mt. Batulao – Batangas. Last April 13, 2009 on her way home, from Pasay Rotonda around 5:30 a.m. while on board a passenger jeep three (3) men held them up. It so happened that there was a policeman (in civilian clothes) in the same jeep who tried to pull a gun aiming at the hold uppers. The stray bullet hit Jeckierine in her right eye.

Jeckierine was first brought to South Super Highway Medical Centre where she was given first treatment. She was moved to Manila Doctors in Manila but has to be moved to PGH due to financial difficulty.

The pictures below show Jeckierine with other mountaineers before that tragic incident, the other picture shows her now confined at PGH Ward 12 (Trauma Ward). The x-ray films show the empty bullet (tingga) in her head. The doctors say it would be very dangerous and critical to take the bullet out of her head. It is unsure if her other eye would be saved as its nerve is already affected. Right now Jeckierine lives in the dark. You may wish to visit her at PGH – or you may want to call her at this no. 0905 6261923 thru her mother, Mrs. Thelma C. Alcaraz. ( I was just informed that she may be discharged from PGH anytime today)

Any help or assistance that you would like to extend to Jeckierine would go a long way to provide for all her medical needs.

At the moment we are trying to solicit funds for her. Just let me know if you wish to add to our fund raising for Jeckierine.

GREENPEACE: Earth Day? Every day from now to December is Earth Day.

Join and be a climate activist.

Just received a message from Greenpeace:

Here at Greenpeace, we're pushers of a controlled substance. It's called hope. And our new "Inspiring Action" video is dizzy with it.

When we take action against environmental crimes, we also take action against despair. And there are times when inspiring other people to take action is by far the most powerful outcome that we could hope for.

Scientists are sounding more and more alarms about the fate of the ice caps, the acidification of our oceans, the loss of our equatorial rainforests and the consequences all these things will have on low-lying countries, on our health, on our ways of raising food, and the foundations of our civilization.

watch our new video at http://www.greenpeace.org/seasia/en/news/this-earth-day-become-a-clima

There are ample reasons for despair.

But many years ago, one of our activists summed up the Greenpeace ethos: "The optimism of action is better than the pessimism of the thought."

If you agree, we want you, and 2,999,999 people like you to sign up as climate activists. Together let’s act and protect our future.

The most important meeting of the century

When the UN Climate summit convenes in Copenhagen this December, delegates there will be deciding the fate of the Earth. It's looking more and more likely they will bring us a lot of hot air, not a cooler planet.

YOU need to tell them that's not good enough.

YOU need to raise the bar on the world's expectations.

It's time to get involved. It's time to get your friends involved. It's time to get your parents or your kids involved.

Our first mission is to get the message out that we want our leaders to take personal responsibility for stopping climate change.

The first step to ensuring that the climate summit makes real decision is to make sure that real decision makers are there.

Demand key leaders go to the climate summit: sign our petition

Please send this video to your friends. Post a link in Facebook. Post it to your blog.

This Earth Day, please join us in this conspiracy of hope called Greenpeace, and inspire others to action.

Take Action

Tell world leaders to take personal responsibility for our planet's future, and attend the Copenhagen Climate Summit personally.

Greenpeace maintains its independence by refusing corporate and government donations. We rely on millions of people like you to keep us going.
